Frequently Asked Questions

Consultation required

At Infusion Wellness, our priority is to ensure that you are well-informed and at ease with the care provided. Answers to some of the most common questions follow below.  Please feel free to call our clinic at 671-647-0067 for any further questions and we will be happy to help you.

What is IV Therapy?

It is a fast and effective way to deliver fluids, vitamins, minerals, and medications straight to the bloodstream bypassing the digestive system, for greater absorption compared to oral intake.

Is IV nutrition therapy safe?

Yes, it is generally safe when administered by a qualified healthcare professional. It is essential to have a health evaluation prior, to increase safety and minimize risk. The evaluation also helps tailor your treatment.

Who should or should not receive IV therapy?

Depending on your health, IV therapy works well for most people and is generally considered a low-risk procedure. People with chronic kidney disease, heart conditions, and pregnant or nursing women should not receive IV therapy at this clinic.

Is there evidence antioxidants work?

As research evolves, studies show antioxidants decrease inflammation and protect against cell damage. We follow recommendations to determine the proper amount and delivery methods.

Do you accept insurance?

Our IV infusions are not FDA-approved and not covered by insurance. We accept cash or credit card payments. We offer significant discounts for packaged and maintenance therapies (coming soon).

What are some of the benefits?

Benefits of IV nutrient infusion can include increased energy, improved hydration, enhanced immune function, reduced inflammation, better athletic performance and recovery, and improved skin health.

Injection or infusion. What's the difference?

An injection is a 'shot' (like a vaccine). It is injected into a muscle (usually your arm) over about a minute. An IV push or infusion requires putting a small catheter into a vein. An 'IV push' can take 10-15 minutes while an infusion is given over 30-60 minutes.

How fast does it work?

Your response is dependent on your body, the nutrients, and/or the fluids. Symptom relief can be immediate, or it can days. Sometimes several treatments are necessary for relief or to see improvement.

What types of nutrients can be included in IV therapy?

Common nutrients include vitamin C, B12, D, magnesium, and antioxidants. The specific mix can be tailored to your needs.

IV Ketamine Disclaimer

At Infusion Wellness, we are committed to offering this innovative treatment for difficult-to-treat chronic mood and pain conditions.  We advise you to understand the following key components.

General: Ketamine is not a cure, nor is it a first line drug to treat chronic depression/mood or pain conditions. Ketamine treatment is often most effective when used in conjunction with other treatments, like therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes. Our team will work with you and your mental health provider to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.

Ketamine was developed and initially FDA-approved as an anesthesia drug. Ketamine for use in chronic mood/pain conditions is considered “off-label” which means it is NOT FDA-approved. Using medications “off-label” is quite common and legal in healthcare; especially when there are limited treatment options, or when traditional therapy is not working.

Individual Results May Vary: Individual responses to Ketamine vary. While some may benefit significantly, others may not. We aim to provide effective, personalized treatment but cannot guarantee results.

Consultation and Supervision: Prior to treatment, your care provider for mental health or pain will determine if you qualify for treatment. Before treatment, we conduct a comprehensive consultation to determine whether Ketamine therapy is suitable for your individual needs.  As with any medical procedure, there can be potential side effects; these will be discussed during your consultation. Ketamine infusions are monitored under strict safety protocols and our healthcare staff will monitor for any adverse effects.

Short-Term Complications: The most common short-term side effects are nausea, headache, elevated blood pressure and heart rate, dizziness, and dissociation (feeling detached from reality). Dissociation, while usually mild and transient, can cause significant anxiety for some people, sometimes requiring the use of sedatives or therapy adjustments. However, most patients tolerate these effects well, as they are generally manageable and temporary.

Long-Term Complications: The long-term side effects of ketamine remain largely unknown. However, chronic use has been associated with issues such as memory problems, difficulty concentrating, confusion, urinary tract or kidney damage, dependence, mood swings, worsening mental health conditions in some cases, and tolerance—requiring higher doses and increasing the risk of addiction. These complications are typically observed in individuals taking large or repeated doses recreationally. It is unclear whether such issues may arise in patients receiving ketamine at therapeutic doses for mood or chronic pain disorders.

*Long-term safety of ketamine was reported on data for 6,630 patients, one-third of whom received over 10 treatments. Adverse effects requiring discontinuation occurred in only 0.7% of patients, with psychological distress being the most common cause. Rare side effects included bladder dysfunction (0.1%), cognitive decline (0.03%), and psychotic symptoms (0.03%). A review of 20 published studies showed a low adverse event rate (1.2%). These findings suggest that repeated ketamine treatment for depression is generally safe.

Ongoing Innovation: The field of Ketamine therapy is advancing rapidly, and we are committed to staying at the forefront. By integrating the latest research and breakthroughs into our practices, we ensure our treatments remain informed by science to deliver the highest standard of care.
